Hugo Ramirez, AIA, NCARB
With a decade invested in the architectural field, I embody a versatile, passionate Project Architect driven by a commitment to crafting innovative designs that not only meet project objectives but also transcend client expectations. My journey through diverse architectural phases across various project types has instilled in me a profound appreciation for the pivotal role architects play in uplifting the communities they serve.

My career commenced in 2013 at 2401 Incorporated, a Chicago-based architectural firm renowned for its expertise in institutional projects. Over seven enriching years, I delved into the realm of behavioral health, skilled nursing, and physical therapy facilities. It was here that I found mentorship and guidance from Randal Kane, President of 2401 Inc.
In 2021, a personal chapter led me to Austin, Texas, where I embraced a new trajectory with VLK Architects. This marked the beginning of my journey as a Registered Architect in Texas, complemented by AIA and NCARB certifications. During my tenure at VLK Architects I contributed on projects for Austin ISD and Keller ISD, alongside a compelling mixed-use women shelter project for the city of Waxahachie.

In my current role as a Project Architect at Pfluger Architects, I am entrusted with overseeing the development of an early childhood education center for Pre-K 4 SA in San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, I've been appointed to lead multiple projects for Austin ISD, including the renovation and modernization efforts for Crockett Early College High School, Covington Middle School, and Navarro High School. This follows my previous position as one of the lead Project Architects for Del Valle ISD’s expansive 450,000 SF High School #2, where I played a pivotal role in spearheading the Academic and CTE wings of the project, contributing to Del Valle ISD's educational mission.

Moreover, I hold the USGBC professional accreditation of LEED Green Associate, a testament to my commitment to sustainable architecture. Currently on the path toward obtaining LEED AP BD+C, I am dedicated to furthering my expertise in environmentally conscious design practices, aiming to integrate sustainability seamlessly into every architectural endeavor.
Currently, I am actively engaged with ACE Mentor, a program through which I guide and inspire aspiring architects, engineers, and construction professionals. This involvement allows me to continually contribute to nurturing talent and creating opportunities for growth within these fields. Previously, my commitment to mentorship and education led me to work with iMentor, where I championed initiatives supporting underserved communities. These experiences have fueled my dedication to fostering talent and making a positive impact on the next generation.
Furthermore, as part of the NCARB ARE Exam Review Taskforce, specifically the ARE 5.0 Item and Case Study Review Committee, I contribute my expertise to ensure the validity and alignment of the ARE exam content with current standards. This role involves reviewing and editing items and case studies across multiple divisions, reinforcing my dedication to maintaining the integrity of professional examinations.
